ポイント#1

バーチャルCISO(vCISO)やCISOオンデマンドと呼ばれるサービスは、別名「「セキュリティ対策を短期的に支援して！」である。このようなアウトソーシングされたセキュリティ専門家サービスには共通点がある。中小企業は支援が必要であることは分かっているが、セキュリティが目的地ではなく旅路であることに気づいていないのだ。ただ 「安全である」というだけではダメだし、立ち止まることもできない。常に改善し続けなければならない。セキュリティを確保したいのであれば、それを実現するために適切な部門・担当に投資すべきである。

ポイント#2

今回のOktaへの不正アクセスは、顧客にログを公開することの重要性を物語っている(CloudFlare、1Password、BeyondTrustを参照して欲しい、彼らはOktaの報告前に指摘している)。たいていの場合、顧客は先に問題を発見することができ、セキュリティ担当の延長のような存在だ。また、「監査ログの恥の壁」に掲載されてしまうことのないように。監査ログの公開は、最低限必要だ。

2023年の世界的なサイバーセキュリティ意識向上月間が終了するにあたり、ソフトウェアおよびセキュリティ業界は、ビジネスのやり方を見直すことが急務だ。セキュリティを強化する基本的な機能を採用することを始め、ユーザに頼るのをやめることが不可欠である。我々が変わらなければ、20 年後も同じようにサイバーセキュリティに重点を置いた取り組みが続くだろう。
