Code Patrol: And now our watch begins!

Welcome to Code Patrol: a new podcast from Contrast Security that scrutinizes the tech scene with what I like to call “code-colored glasses.” 

Barring any episodes in which the cat chews through my audio cords, I’ll be your host — me, as in Lisa Vaas, a security industry veteran and former journalist who’s had the pleasure of having spent the past few decades asking smart people questions both half-baked and deliciously crispy. 

I’m writing this introductory blog after working with the rock star Production Manager Angel Duan for months: months in which we’ve had the pleasure of chatting with experts on all things “security” that collide with the code that runs the world. That means cybercrime, hacking, DevSecOps, AppSec, the Office of Management and Budget’s teeth-grindingly boring (and game-changing!) M-22-18 memo that’s actually going to be dramatically transformative when it comes to transparency into software security practices, the why’s of developers’ love for the Kotlin programming language (this just in: Meta’s moving off Java in favor of Kotlin!), which security fires federal CTOs should focus on putting out first, why on-call support sucks for engineers and how to make it less sucky, and how to defend from within instead of just hanging around your perimeter.
